Amsterdam-City council will allow performing to all nationalities.
Created: December 16, 2005.
The council of Amsterdam-City has just accepted the proposal
(Dutch) of Amsterdam Anders / de Groenen.
The Amsterdam by-law (APV) will be changed, so that street theatre performers
will not need a license anymore. This means that anybody, regardless their
nationality or status can street perform again in Amsterdam. Non-EU performers
will be welcome again!
The new situation will be effective "before coming season".
We will still need to keep an eye on additional, but crucial 'details' which are currently regulated by the license, like the use of fire, voice- and music amplification, 'dangerous' props, etc..
PERFORMERS: Please note that things HAVE NOT changed YET.
If you want to perform 'now', you will still need a license.
Keep an eye on this website for the latest developments before you make important decisions ;-)
